Shenzhen-Macau Signed Agreement to Promote Macau Youth for Shenzhen Internship

The 2019 Shenzhen-Macau Cooperation Conference was held at the headquarters of the Macao SAR Government on January 10. The Chief Executive of the Macao SAR, Chui Sai On, and the Mayor of Shenzhen, Chen Rugui, led the officials of both sides in the conference. After the conference, the two sides signed cooperation agreements on strengthening the laws of the two places, promoting youth internship and employment, and improving cultural and creative industries.

During the conference, the Chief Executive of the Macao SAR, Chui Sai On, said that Shenzhen as a special economic zone plays a unique and important leading role in the process of national reform, especially the “Shenzhen Speed” and “Shenzhen Model”. Macao and Shenzhen have maintained friendly and cooperative relations for a long time. He hopes to continually strengthen the cooperation between the two places and expand cooperation areas with the advantages of Shenzhen in the fields of science and technology and innovation to jointly contribute to the construction of the China’s Greater Bay Area.

The Mayor of Shenzhen, Chen Rugui, claimed that the construction of the China’s Greater Bay Area is a new opportunity for cooperation between Shenzhen and Macao. In accordance with the state deployment requirements, Shenzhen and Macau will jointly help to promote the construction of the China’s Greater Bay Area and strengthen the coordination of commercial, arbitration, legal, and regulatory systems between the two places. Shenzhen will do more support for Macao youths to work in Shenzhen, promote cooperation between the two places for schools and medical issues, and jointly develop the Portuguese-speaking market to build a world-class Bay Area and city group.

After the meeting, the two sides signed agreements including the Legal Cooperation Arrangement of Shenzhen Government and the Macao SAR Government, the Memorandum of Cooperation Framework for Macao Youth for Shenzhen Internship and Employment, and the Cultural and Creative Industry Cooperation Memorandum. Macao Labor Affairs Bureau and Shenzhen Hong Kong-Macao Office reached a consensus to jointly promote the cultivation of human resources in the two places and help with providing a wider range of internships and employment opportunities for young people in Macau.
