The World Trade Center Macau (WTCM) will lead a group of Mozambican entities to build and set up the country’s first World Trade Center.

Mozambique’s first World Trade Center will be established in its capital, Maputo.

The agreement about the "World Trade Center Maputo" was signed in the capital of Mazambique on 11 November. The signing ceremony was part of an official visit of Macau’s Governor, General Vasco Rocha Vieira, to the Portuguese-speaking southeastern African nation.

The agreement was signed by Jossub Nurmamade, who chairs a committee preparing the setting-up of a real-estate stock exchange, on behalf of Mozambique, and by António Leça, President of the WTC Macau.

The agreement was also signed by the president of Banco Comercial e de Investimento, Abdul Magid Osman, and the General Manager of Consultec, José Luís Rocha Lobo.

Under the agreement, a detailed financial survey of the project’s economic conditions will be prepared, apart from a preliminary study of real-estate investment in Mozambique. The agreement also provides for a detailed definition of the corporate structure of Mozambique’s first World Trade Center, including an estimate of the construction and other costs involved in getting the project off the ground.

The World Trade Center Mozambique is planned to have a usable gross floor area of 6,000 square metres on 20 floors.

The signing ceremony was presided over by Governor Gen. Rocha Vieira in the presence of Mozambique’s Planning and Finance Minister Tomaz Salomão, the Macau Government’s Secretary for Economic Co-ordination, Vitor Pessoa, Portugal’s Ambassador to Mozambique, Ruy de Brito e Cunha, and Mozambique’s Ambassador to China, José Morais.

After the solemn signing ceremony, Mozambique’s former Finance Minister and President ofpa1gr2b.jpg (80352 bytes) the Board of Directors of Banco Comercial e de Investimento, Abdul Magid Osman, underlined the financial significance of the project and its importance in promoting Mozambique’s ongoing economic modernisation process.
